About The Bartlett Tree Foundation

The Bartlett Tree Foundation, Inc. is a private foundation under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code whose original funding was provided by Bartlett family members and The F. A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company. This funding continues today, as a primary source of support. Others have provided assistance as well, including major contributions from members of the Bartlett family, individuals, Bartlett employees and a steady stream of honorariums. The mission of the Foundation is to mentor future generations of arborists and advance the science of arboriculture. The Foundation's aim is to promote awareness about the arboricultural industry and to provide eligible students with the resources they need to earn a degree and pursue a career in the field.

The Foundation began with four eastern colleges and has expanded over the years. Today, the foundation has grown to provide funding for 29 institutions throughout the United States.

A board of directors, headed by Alan Jones as Chairman of the Foundation, is advised by consulting directors from each of the participating institutions. Biannual meetings at the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories are held as a forum for the discussion of education related to arboriculture.

We have nurtured a free exchange of ideas among the Foundation directors, consultants, and students that has resulted in several important innovations in the ways that young people, even at the elementary school level, learn about our profession.
